ITs  A Girls Thang

It’s A Girls Thang has successfully engaged in educating women and girls through workshops, conferences, travel and life experiences since September of 1997. In celebration of this success, PEARLS have been established.  PEARLS are girls ages 3-18, who Prioritize Education while Advancing Real Lives Strong.

 

Through the PEARLS initiative, girls will be encouraged to engage in activities and workshops that prepare them for the real world and broaden their understanding of how to be successful in life. On April 22, 2017, It’s A Girls Thang hosted it’s first PEARLS Day In activity where the girls engaged in painting, cooking, sewing, and dancing.  They will also engage in workshops that address self-esteem, appearance and the importance of education. Through this event we hoped to cultivate new relations and identify areas for development of new programs to offer youth in the community.

 

We encouraged girls to complete school and pursue higher education along with enhancing life skills that could lead to entrepreneurial opportunities.
